I found Guest House Maria to be well located within easy reach of transportation and close to many points of interest and restaurants. There's a communal kitchen which is helpful if you want to prepare meals or use the refrigerator. I also found the neighborhood to be tranquil with lots of immigrants from Asian and South Asian countries. Something other guests have put down due to their fascist ideology. Yes, there are homeless people, like everywhere else in the city, but they never bothered me. The Vittorio Emmanuele park was nice to stroll through during the day and night. It's a great opportunity to see the locals relaxing and enjoying the park. They even have a nice outdoor café which serves excellent breakfasts.
The only negative I have is of the owner of the Guest House. He was very negative towards me when I expressed my displeasure at no one answering my emails. He told me that if I wasn't happy, that I could cancel at anytime free of charge. Except he was incorrect. I had a non-refundable reservation but he was too incompetent to realize this. If I canceled, I wasn't going to get my money back. Who was going to keep it, him or hotels.com? Thanks to Muna, the person who manages the guest house, she reassured me and made me feel better. She knows how to treat clients with respect, unlike the owner.
