Beware the insinkerator!
We had a one-bedroom flat on the 2nd floor. Steep staircase, no lift. The area is quiet; Tescos and the Co-op are at the end of the road. The flat is well supplied with utensils, etc for cooking. Operating the TV is easy, although I don't think the property has a TV licence.
The main problem we had with this flat was the plumbing. The kitchen sink has an InSinkErator to breakdown food residue and wash it into the drain. There was nothing to alert people to this. When I started the washing machine there was a horrible smell of drains and water full of food partices (mostly chips) welled up into the sink. There is a switch beneath the sink that needs to be depressed so the insinkerator starts up. It looked as if no-one had used it so the drain was partially blocked. The shower did not work well. The maintenance man came round early the next morning and fixed the problems including using a powerful suction machine to empty the drain.
There is no parking permitted on Cambridge Place, but there are plenty of parking spaces so if you come by car you can park very close to unload and load up. There is free overnight parking on Glisson Road which is nearby.
The flat is a short walk from the railway station and the city centre, so is well situated.
The bin men drive up Cambridge Place early in the morning so if you like sleeping late they are likely to wake you up.
