We booked this stay through Hotels.com after our original hotel reservation was unexpectedly canceled at the last minute. So we went to hotel.com and we paid for the room the same day, saw the charge processed on our account, and received a confirmation email for one room with two queen beds, which we specifically needed for three people.
However, upon arrival, we were told the room had already been sold and that they had not “received payment on their end”, despite us having proof of purchase. The only option offered was a room with one queen bed (no couch bed included), with no adjustment to the price and no alternative accommodations (such as offering two separate rooms or any form of compensation).
As a result, we had to leave and scramble to find another hotel that could accommodate us on such short notice. This was an incredibly stressful experience and not something we’ve encountered before when booking through a third party. And we're incredibly frustrated trying to get a refund.
