We spent a few days in Istanbul – it was super fun and cozy. The hotel there was amazing, and so was the staff.
Afterwards, we decided to spend a few more days in Antalya. While searching for a hotel, we came across Elips Royal Hotel in Antalya via UK.Hotel.com. Since we had to drive over 10 hours from Istanbul to Antalya, we specifically looked for a hotel that allowed late check-in at the end of the day.
According to UK.Hotel.com, it was possible to check in at Elips Royal Hotel between 00:00 and 01:00. We left Istanbul at 11:00 in the morning and arrived just after midnight.
At the reception, however, the receptionist immediately told us it was impossible to check in at that time. He said the hotel's policy was to check in and out between 12:00 and 13:00 during the day.
He said we could check in for that night only if we paid extra, and after 12:00 we would get the room we had already paid for. The receptionist was extremely aggressive and shouted at us.
We tried contacting UK.Hotel.com at that moment, but were only met with a chatbot repeating the same message:
"We’re sorry to hear you’re unable to check in."
That night, we ended up sleeping on the couch in the hotel lobby.
The receptionist also mentioned something about "Maxi Rooms", saying that the hotel’s rooms are offered on different websites through that company, and that the mistake came from Maxi Rooms. When we asked for a phone number to contact them, he refused to provide it.
