This was my 12th trip to the Chon Buri area. Wanting to get away from the constant noise and activity of Pattaya, we decided to stay a few kilometers away in the Jomtien area. We chose the Rodina because they had rooms available for our three-week stay.
Unfortunately, the problems started immediately.
Upon entering the lobby, the interior was actually hotter than the outside temperature. **Strike 1.**
During our journey to the room, we noticed construction was underway throughout the property, with paint, tarps, and a considerable amount of dust everywhere. **Strike 2.**
Once inside the room, we found mold throughout the bathroom, the safe was broken, and what was advertised as a sea view was actually a view of the rusted metal roof of a makeshift boat. The balcony was also missing the amenities shown in the hotel's advertising, including the hot tub, table, and chairs. **Strike 3.**
We checked out within 10 minutes and moved to a hotel directly next door. To their credit, the staff were very helpful and assisted us with relocating our luggage to the new hotel. We appreciated their help and understanding and rewarded them with several beers and some snacks.
The Rodina clearly requires **major maintenance and renovation**. Don't be fooled by the polished photos on their website—the actual condition of the property was very different from what was advertised.
**I would strongly recommend inspection in person.
