I was going to Glacier National Park and wanted to stay somewhere that was an easy drive from the park but not in the midst of all the park visitors. Kalispell Grand Hotel is an old hotel (built in 1912) that's a little less than an hour from the West Glacier entrance.
The room was clean but very small, which isn't surprising considering the age of the hotel. The shower stall was very small and the water never got hot. The employees were all very helpful and even let me borrow an umbrella when it started to rain.
There is parking right next to the hotel, but it's $12/night. Otherwise, street parking is available but it's metered.
The breakfast was decent. They had pastry and two kinds of quiche, which is kind of a nice change of pace from most hotel breakfasts.
The hotel is within walking distance of several shops, restaurants, bars, etc.
My only complaint is there is quite a lot of traffic on the main street in front of the hotel. If you're a light sleeper, maybe ask if they can put you in a room away from the street.
