The room was lovely, and the hotelās setting is beautiful. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and a real highlight of our stay.
However, our arrival experience was a little underwhelming. When we asked at reception about local walks, the lady on duty explained she wasnāt local and didnāt know of any nearby routes. (Itās surprising for a hotel in the Lake District not to be able to offer such advice.) Fortunately, a helpful member of the bar team stepped in and gave us some great suggestions, allowing us to plan our day.
Later, after being delayed in Keswick due to a lack of available taxis, we returned to the hotel at 8.30 pm. Unfortunately, we were told that no food could be served at this timeānot even a dessertāwhich was disappointing after a long day.
Overall, the hotel itself is charming and well-presented, but it feels noticeably understaffed, and that really impacts the overall guest experience.
