The reception area appears rather tired and, when I arrived, was unstaffed. Unfortunately, the telephone number provided to contact reception did not work for me. I eventually found a member of staff in the bar, and check-in was then smooth and straightforward.
My room was up seven flights of stairs and, with luggage and work equipment, this was quite a climb. There is no lift, so this may be worth considering for anyone with mobility difficulties or substantial luggage.
There was a good choice of breakfast items, although the scrambled eggs could have been better prepared, with long streaks of unwhisked egg white.
There was plenty of parking. The hotel is near Hook railway station, so there are regular rumblings from passing trains from very early morning until late evening. The room itself was comfortable.
The restaurant was closed for two days during my stay, which was inconvenient, although there are other places to eat nearby, including a good Indian restaurant directly opposite.
Overall, the hotel suited my needs well for a business stay. There are some areas that could be improved, but the comfortable room, plentiful parking and convenient location made it suitable for my purposes.
