The Staff are the real stars here at The Falcon's Nest. Monique the Receptionist was extremely helpful at all times and her passion for the place was evident. The building itself was undergoing restoration which was suspended by the pandemic but the whole of the hotel was still in operation. The room was cleaned each day. The breakfast buffets were fantastic, especially Vic the waiter, who was most attentive. The restaurant food was good, freshly cooked and plentiful, especially the steak and ale pie which was to die for. The Breakfast room was once a beautiful ballroom with large chandeliers ans mirrors. Our room was on the corner overlooking the bay through a huge window and side window giving another view of the street and the length of the bay area. I gather thewre are other rooms without so much of a view but we paid for the 'Premium' room and it was well worth it. It was more like an apartment! It had a double bedroom with a four-poster, two easy chairs, Narnia-style wardrobe and everything needed. It had a separate smaller bedroom and a bathroom you could have danced in, all very nicely cleaned and laid out. Please bear in mind that this is not a new hotel and the last two years of shutdown have done it no favours but every effort is being made to catch up. This hotel is well-rubbed but is quirky and very comfortable. It has a well-stocked bar too.
