I’ve stayed at the Celestine before and was excited to stay there again. Unfortunately, this experience was not as pleasant as the first.
Upon arrival, we noted there was a large construction area blocking half of Toulouse. Maybe not a huge deal except our room (#4) was overlooking several port-a-potties and a huge dumpster. A little disappointing.
Our room was also just above the hotel entrance. It’s not a super busy entrance BUT every time someone walked through the door, it slammed behind them shaking the entire floor. Even the bottles on the minibar would rattle. I understand the property is very old, however, it seems a simple fix to eliminate the door slam that shakes everything so violently. Since some Peychauds customers also come/go from this entrance, the door would slam 50-100 times an evening.
As for the accommodations, our room was small (which is perfectly fine) with limited furnishings. Two glaring issues for us were the lack of space to put clothes and the lack of a suitcase rack. We had to have our suitcase on the floor which became a bit of a tripping hazard in such tight quarters.
In our bathroom, the sink was so small (10”x10”) it was almost not functional for brushing teeth and washing your face. The glass shelf above the sink was pulling out of the wall in places. Kudos for installing the glass shelf though because it gave me a spot to put my toiletries. The shower door wouldn’t stay completely closed while showering.
Too pricey for the product.
