I recently stayed at Harbour Hotels Richmond, and the experience was extremely disappointing — particularly in comparison to Harbour Hotel Southampton, which is on a completely different level in terms of standards and service.
The room was not properly cleaned, which is a basic expectation at any hotel charging premium prices. It immediately felt neglected and poorly managed. The TV was also not functioning properly, suggesting a lack of maintenance and attention to detail.
Breakfast was genuinely poor — low quality, badly presented, and nowhere near what you would expect from a hotel positioning itself as upscale. It felt more like a budget offering than a premium experience.
Noise was a constant issue. There was ongoing banging and disturbance from neighbouring rooms, making it difficult to relax or sleep. Either soundproofing is inadequate, or noise complaints are not taken seriously — neither reflects well on management.
The most concerning aspect, however, was the staff. When issues were raised, they appeared poorly trained and lacked the knowledge or confidence to deal with basic concerns professionally. There was a clear absence of organisation and customer care.
To then charge £35 for just one extra hour of late checkout feels excessive and out of touch, particularly given the already underwhelming experience.
Overall, this stay fell far below the standards set by other Harbour Hotels and does not reflect the premium image the brand promotes. I would not return
