Close to city centre, good free parking. Quiet and dog friendly. Very comfy bed, lots of hot water. All you need from a lower cost hotel. Chris

2/10 - Insatisfatório

- room stank of vinegar - reception staff weren’t about. we’d been left for 15 minutes before someone appeared and then we never saw the receptionist again for the rest of the stay - windows don’t open leading to a very hot and stuffy room - no charging sockets near to the bed

I enjoyed my stay at travel lodge Durham but the room charge was excessive for the hotel. All the staff were very helpful and deserve praise for efficiency and friendliness

A good location if you want to walk a bit to any restaurants in the area. Very basic hotel in terms of amenities and the style of accommodation.

I was only one night so I didn’t care too much but it was good if you want an economic option to stay

Good location. Spacious room and good value for money but it feels a bit unnecessary to only give 30 minutes free wi-fi and ask people to pay after that.

Staff were courteous. Room carpet very very dirty and stained. bathroom toilet holder too close to the seat causing discomfort / crimp. car park poorly designed and at a slant.

This is a decent option and within walking distance to city centre (<15 min). However it is very basic

Ok, but nothing amazing

Pleasant helpful staff, basic accommodation , fixed wall shower, so not as good to clean yourself properly, or for staff to clean the shower, a few hairs stuck on the shower wall and towels smelt funny. Like they’d been hung up to dry in a kitchen, fine and quiet, would be good to have a little shop area with some toiletries, sanitary wear etc and a bell/ buzzer would be helpful for the reception, if there aren’t any staff in there, although, someone did come quickly when I shouted through.

Great for a 15 minute walk through colleges to river and city centre. Impressed with the automated vacuum cleaner spotted wandering the corridor !

Overall: Very nicely clean! Lovely room, bathroom & view. A bit of a hike to get to the actual room itself, but a pleasant one. Facilities: USB ports worked well for charging. No microwave/fridge available in the room I chose, although I should've inquired about this I suppose. Was able to make instant oatmeal for breakfast using the water kettle & mugs provided. Nice tea/coffee options. Didn't try the "grab-and-go" breakfast—costs extra and doesn't seem super nutritious. Careful: Wifi also costs extra after the first 30 mins you use it per 24-hour period. This was frustrating. But it also wasn't very expensive to buy access (something like £3.50 extra per 24 hours). Friendly staff, but no one was at the reception desk initially. Make sure you have cell service if you need to call them—I didn't, but got lucky since some passersby let me use their phone to call reception. Not sure if pet-friendly. Don't use a car to visit Durham. Take the train!

Stay if no other option

Rooms are tired, shower is only a dribble, floorboards in all rooms creaking could be heard, ceiling outside room uncovered and stained. Desk area marked.

My stay was generally very good. The only small gripe was a bit of confusion over the exit. The road markings had been worn away and it wasn't easy to see where to go.

Average and extra costs!

Staying in an annex building. Key card did not work. Had to walk back to reception to get a new one. Arrived 50 mins early. Paid £15 to check in earlier. Internet was £9 for 2 and a half days. This was NOT clear on the listing.
