All services provided were of a good standard. The choice of food on site in the evening is amazing - large portions. Staff were helpful.

Strange smell in the rooms, a little musty which never cleared (multiple rooms). Had to leave early morning so missed breakfast which was a shame. Dinner portions were hearty and tasty. It's in the middle of nowhere so own transportation required, good if needing an overnight stop or if you're happy to drive each day to see/explore.

Lovely clean room, comfy bed, super shower. Well stocked hospitality tray and daily servicing. Staff friendly, helpful and efficient. We didn't personally use the bar, drinks were served to us by waiting staff. Breakfast felt a little rushed, as if the staff wanted to get it cleared away asap. Sausages tasted and looked as if they'd been reheated from earlier. Dinners were very nice apart from chips which I was served but were inedible, they were soft and soggy (very greasy). I mentioned it to the waitress who apologised and said that she would tell the chef. Sunday roast was delicious, like home cooking. 4 out of 5 on food. Plenty of free parking which was a definite plus.

Lovely, comfortable hotel with excellent dining. Helpful, friendly staff. Delicious good value meals including breakfast. Only drawback is steep stairs to rooms and no lift (but don't let that put you off - just be aware). Plenty of parking. A 20 minute drive to the Kynren show. I have stayed here twice (to see the Kynren show) and highly recommend it.

Great location for visiting Durham and surrounding areas. Room clean and comfortable. Excellent ‘free’ breakfast. We enjoyed a meal in the evening which was good value for money and large portions. Can recommend.

Our room, while not over-big, was v clean quiet and all facilities were in good working order. Excellent shower. The food was great, well cooked and big choice- both breakfast and the evening meal. Reasonably priced. Staff helpful and efficient. We'll look forward to returning sometime and already recommending it to friends and family.

The staff were absolutely lovely here, in every area; bar, kitchen, cleaners; everyone we interacted with were just a pleasure to deal with. The breakfast was great and really good value with great, friendly service. We also ate an evening meal there; portions were huge and great choice. Rooms were comfortable and perfect for a couple of nights. I would definitely return and would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone. And if I wasn’t clear at the beginning, the staff are fantastic; a real asset to the business!

Overnight stay on way from Scotland to England. Stayed here before so knew what to expect. Only criticism is no gluten free bread or dairy free spread for breakfast toast. They do have a gluten free menu. We took our own bread and spread and gave bread to another guest who was extremely grateful.

What a beautiful inn. It’s quiet and the staff are all very friendly. I stayed there one night and chose it because of its proximity to Kynren. It was about a 15 minute drive from their car park. So convenient! Especially when you’re getting out of the show at 11 o’clock at night. Their breakfast in the morning had lots of options, both hot and cold. I wish I could’ve stayed longer in the area.
