PLEASE BEWARE. What makes Base Lausanne appealing on paper is its close proximity to the train station. SADLY, THE NEGATIVES: The hotel's main exterior photo skillfully avoids any indication of attic rooms on the top level. In addition, all the official photos of my Classic Apartment feature large floor-to-ceiling windows. Absolutely no hint of possibility of attic rooms with severely sloping garret roofs and only "windows" that push out at an angle to the sky (#402). My husband and I are very tall and WOULD NEVER HAVE BOOKED this type of room. This being a "contactless" hotel, I raised this issue to the online staff who assured me that management would do its best to "find a suitable solution" (this being a Sunday late afternoon). In full disclosure, I declined changing rooms the next day (not having been offered one yet) because we were leaving early at 7:00 am on Tuesday. Instead, I proposed that our room rate be adjusted to a lesser category as a recognition of the hotel's misrepresentation. Hearing no response by 3 pm the next day, I contacted Hotels.com's support team. Base Lausanne's final "gesture of goodwill" was a CHF 30 partial refund accompanied by a seemingly boilerplate letter of apology. To be fair, there were POSITIVES: 1) Short walking distance to central train station. 2) Reasonable rate. 3) Well-supplied kitchenette, with Bosch equipment. Nonetheless, NOT DELIVERING ON ITS ADVERTISED PRODUCT is disingenuous and smacks to one of bad faith.
