Bit of a hidden Gem for visits to North Yorkshire

The owners are very friendly and helpful, and are also very nice people. Everything is spotless. Beds are very comfortable and warm. Breakfast is really excellent. Restaurant meals are also really good. The area is really quiet and peaceful. Plenty of private car parking. Will definitely stay there again.

Lovely old 17th century building. Everyone so welcoming and helpful . Breakfast lovely, coffee absolutely fabulous. Only slight issue Wi-Fi in stables not strong,however 3G in the area ( Vodafone) was great so wasn’t a real problem.

Very pretty property set in lovely grounds. Warm and friendly staff. Decor well done and spotless. We stayed in the upper annex and the shape of the roof meant restricted head height so we hit our head a couple of times learning to duck. Do not misunderstand though, it's a lovely property run by very nice people and we would stay again.

Beautiful period property and lovely owner. The room didn’t have a hairdryer or a kettle, which confused me! I was also tilted backwards laying in bed. I’m unsure whether it was due to the floorboards leaning or the mattress itself. Hearing the church bells from the room was lovely.

Appalling customer service! We had planned a short break to visit friends in Filey at the beginning of August 2026 and made a reservation almost 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately, a family member was rushed into hospital just before the planned weekend and we had to cancel our trip. I wrote to the hotel via the Hotel.com messaging facility with apologies for the cancellation and enquired if they were prepared to provide us with a credit for a stay in the near future. We heard nothing from the hotel, so I telephoned them; I spoke with a member of staff who said that she was unable to assist with the query, but would pass the information on to the owners and ask one of them to call me back. We haven't heard from them apart from a message today, via Hotels.com, asking us to complete a review of their hotel which of course we didn't stay at! We've taken the view that they're just rude. Obviously we won't be making a future booking and won't be using Hotels.com for future reservations either.

We booked this location as it billed itself as a hotel with restaurant and bar. When we arrived about 15:30 and enquired about the restaurant we were told they close at 1600 but there were pubs nearby that would serve food. This was a Sunday so we spent the next hour trying to find somewhere that would serve food in the evening. We found somewhere. The issue is that the location misrepresented itself on Hotels.com. Had we known it was a bed and breakfast only location we would not have booked it. We noted that the listing on Hotels changed today to say bed and breakfast. The property is a lovely old building and the room was ok, as was breakfast but it was not what we booked for. So it was not a great experience and wasn't good value at the price in our opinion.

We would highly recommend the Wrangham House Hotel - it was a very enjoyable stay - everywhere was very clean, staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

Sadly, this was a bad experience. I booked via Expedia where the hotel was advertising a Michelin trained chef and a restaurant. I travelled solo 145 miles for a two night break purely because of this. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to learn the restaurant closed last year. I expressed this disappointment in very civil tones, explaining this was the only reason for my visit. I asked the owner Stacie if I could therefore cancel my second night and obtain a partial refund for it. Stacie agreed and I wrote my bank account details on the back of my business card. A month later I emailed her to ask if she was now in a position to refund me as she had promised. No reply. A few days later, I emailed her again, all in very civil tones. No reply. Today I telephoned to ask for an update. Astonishingly, this lady suddenly decided it was all my fault and no refund will be issued. Despite her advert containing bogus information, it's all my fault because I should have telephoned as well as dealing with Expedia. The distance of 145 miles had suddenly emboldened her to change her mind, take my money and run. Sadly, it is apparent this business is struggling from the moment one walks through the door. I have sympathy with that. I have a property business valued at several millions so the financial loss is unimportant. It's the principle. To strike a deal with a client and renege when they have left your office is unprofessional. I'm taking this further.

A beautiful house, with a spacious and comfortable room - with a massive bath! (We paid extra for the room with a bath and we’re not disappointed.) It was wonderfully peaceful and felt so relaxing. The bed was very soft but we nevertheless slept really well because of the lovely atmosphere, quiet and airiness of the room. Friendly and professional staff. Nice breakfast - they accommodated me being veggie and asking for beans although it was not on the menu. Sadly brought fried rather than poached eggs, but we didn’t mention it at the time as staff had been so good to us already. Loved the coffee, Definitely recommend!

Not the best mattress so not the best sleep, the second night we used the duvet as a mattress topper and that was better. The place is beautiful, just the bed let it down.
