A little inconvenient for impromptu travellers. According to the email from the agent (not hotels.com), we had to contact the owner of the property at least 48 hours in advance of the time we would arrive. Keys are handed over to us (thus no lock box) and the owner showed us around the part of the house that we are staying in. It is not the entire house, just a wing of the house, which is enough for 3 of us, while the owner lives in the main house. Furnitures are dated, so are the appliances. We didn't bother cooking. The stove could use a makeover and there's no dish washing machine. But we did use the laundry machine and dryer. Some learning curve required. Hot water was an issue! The first night we stayed, there was hot water for an hour, and then there was none left. That went on the next morning. The last person had to shower with cold water. The second night and last morning we did fortunately have hot water. We could have contacted the owner, but we didn't bother as we were already leaving. Inside temperatures was chilly even with the electrical heaters turned on. Owner said many times to remember to turn off the heaters before leaving the house - understandable. Location is just a 5 minutes drive from Old Head Beach and an hour plus from Achill Island, which was convenient for us. Beautiful mountain views from the bedrooms and kitchen. An okay stay if you are not bothered with inconveniences.
