It was suggested to me by the hotel to use a "digital key" and check in online instead of stopping at the front desk.
So I hauled my four heavy bags up to my room on the 4th floor and the digital key was not active. Waited 10 minutes outside my room in the hallway and while text chatting with an agent on my phone about the issue. NO HELP AND NO REMEDY. So I call the front desk and they said I needed to come back down and check in since I was "chosen" to have my ID and CC inspected. I was alone and said I was not going to carry my luggage back down again, nor was I going to leave it unattended in the hallway. I asked if my boyfriend could check us in since he was arriving at the hotel within minutes, and the front desk stated that I would have to pay an extra fee to add a new name to my reservation. My boyfriend came to the room to watch our luggage so I went back down to the front desk. I had assumed I could go straight to the front of the line to get my situation taken care of but still waited in line after new hotel guests for over 10 minutes. Obviously not pleased, I re-checked in with the lady I spoke to on the phone and she gave no apology, had no remorse and handed me two water bottles as a "welcome package." All the other guests checking in were offered a treat with their water bottles, but not me. She wanted to get me out of her hair immediately so did not offer me the same amenities as other guests. I felt that was rude, wrong and discriminatory.
