Bed was comfortable and the room was nice. I enjoy staying in older establishments so the creaking floors were a character trait. The staff was great, enjoyed the stay. The room could use new carpet. Not much in the way of restaurants in the area.

Don’t let the exterior fool you. While it looks like they are working to improve the exterior of the property, our room was very clean and newly updated. The AC worked great and I loved that the ceiling fan had a remote I could control from bed. The staff were kind, and check in was quick and easy!

The motel is a historic building which in 1929 was a boardinghouse which now has been renovated to a hotel. The room is newly remodeled and had a spacious remodeled bathroom, which we appreciated. There was freshly brewed coffee, granola bars, apples and a variety of tea in the lobby in the morning.

The room was clean, recently remodeled so it looked nice, mattresses were okay.. pillows was a little firm not soft, Had a fridge & Microwave which was a plus..and internet was fine,,Outside could use little more upkeep, But the place is under remodeling so it's understandable..Staff was very friendly and always gave information when asked, There was coffee made in the morning with some apples and granola bars,There was about 5 different places to eat, a Pilot & a Chevron gas station with mini market & good coffee.. The view f/balcony was of the small town, main hwy in front of hotel, trucks passing by & the train twice a day. All in all we did enjoy our stay there.Crater lake isn't too far f/ there, where we were going to visit.

Other reviews were not flattering but this is a 97 year old building. Stairs creak, the wood exterior is weathered. With that being said the bathrooms were clean, furniture matched old style era. Coffee and snacks in the lobby was an excellent treat. Old western style balcony access from the rooms upstairs. This is not a new property with newer style rooms so don’t expect it but for a good comfortable night to sleep and simple amenities it is great. Staff helpful and friendly I would stay again

A Best Western or a Hilton it ain't, but there was really nothing wrong with Dawson House Lodge. The air conditioning was ample and easy to operate. A notice posted in the room warned of draconian penalties for smoking in the room, but I checked out smoothly the next morning without any smoking inspection to verify compliance. The information notebook in the room had, among many materials, menus from the two cafes across the road, KJ's and the Ponderosa Lounge. Neither was open when I went out around 7 pm looking for dinner. Ended up at nearby Lupita's Tacqueria.

Don't judge a book by its cover.....I enjoyed my stay at this lodge. Located in a small town but close to so much. You have within a drive a National Park, waterfalls and hotsprings. There is a gas station and sandwich shop across the street. Reception was professional, room was clean and spacious. Nice hot shower. You can't go wrong with this lodge. Book today!

The lodge appears to be old and run down when you first approach it. The lodge is owned by an Indian family from India. They live upstairs and are in the process of rebuilding this historic site. They have totally remodeled three rooms at this time and they are small but very clean and comfortable. Microwave, fridge and TV are all included. The bed was new and comfortable. Only one other guest stayed the night we were there. It was a nice place to spend the night on our way to Crater Lake. It is on the highway, so highway noise is part of the experience. Traffic was limited at night (thank goodness).

We stayed in the loft room and it was clean and comfortable. Being a loft room, it IS up stairs, so keep that in mind. Three queen beds, and two small couches that appeared to be able to fold down into a small bed. It had a kitchen: sink, fridge, stove / oven, and a nice bathroom with a roomy shower (not a tub). A sliding glass door and a rather large step up leads out onto a sizable wraparound deck that is also available to other rooms on the second floor. A swing is available on one side of the deck. The Pilot is right across the street (market and gas station). I was very happy with the accommodations.

One of the more important areas to be clean is the bathroom, which was not. The floor had a disgusting rug in front of the toilet. The vinyl floor has maybe never been cleaned from edge to edge. Layers of dirt in the corners. And the use of white linens would be an improvement. And white paint on ceilings, walls & trim would be an improvement and still have that historical decor.
