The only issue I have with La Quinta is the $150 incidental hold they place on your card if you live within 7–9 minutes of the hotel. I've stayed at plenty of hotels, including one during my trip to North Carolina last weekend, and I've never had a hold that high. In most cases, the incidental hold has been around $50.
I understand that hotels need to protect themselves against potential damages or incidentals, but a $150 hold seems excessive—especially for local guests. That amount can make it difficult for people who are simply looking for a quick getaway or staycation. I believe lowering the hold to something more reasonable, like $50 or even $75, would still protect the hotel while making the experience more convenient and affordable for guests. I don't think I'll be staying again due to the amount that is placed on hold.
Overall, my stay was okay, but I do think the incidental hold policy is something La Quinta should reconsider.
