Basic, bland and poor service.
I had emailed twice (no response) and called ahead requesting an early check in. I spoke to someone who said I could have one for an additional £30. When we arrived this was not in the system so we had to downgrade the room (I wasn’t charged for the upgrade). Not the end of the world but poor service. When we went to our room I noticed that there was only one set of towels (there were 2 of us). I asked one of the maids working on the floor to put another set in the room but when I came to have a shower in the morning, realised that she hadn’t.
When we checked out we were directed by the receptionist to the lift to the carpark - when we got to it, it was out of service and we had to walk up 6 flights with all our bags. If we’d been warned in advance we could have collected the luggage once we had picked up the car.
None of these things are huge deals but the overall impression of the service and hotel was that staff were a bit slapdash and not committed to good customer service.
The bed was comfortable and the receptionist who checked us in was friendly.
