Overall, our stay was fine and we had no major issues until the moment we left.
On our last day, we checked out properly at reception and handed over the keys. Since we had heavy luggage, we specifically asked the man at reception whether the taxi we had ordered could enter the parking area through the barrier to pick us up. He assured us that this was absolutely fine.
While we were waiting, a lady came into the parking area. We didn’t realize she was there to operate the barrier. Instead of simply explaining this, she suddenly shouted at us, asking, “Did you hand over the keys?!” Of course we had — we had just checked out at reception, which was presumably why she had come to open the barrier in the first place.
She then told us to move all our heavy luggage outside the parking area, beyond the barrier, where the road was rocky and inconvenient. We explained that reception had specifically told us the taxi could enter the parking area.
When the taxi arrived, she had the remote control and opened the barrier for it anyway — exactly as reception had told us would happen.
It was an unnecessarily unpleasant and confusing interaction, especially after an otherwise perfectly fine stay. A little politeness and better communication between staff would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, this was the final impression we were left with when leaving the hotel.
