We stayed in the King Suite with the free standing bath. The room itself was really lovely, exactly what we wanted, and the bath was great too.
We did have a problem on the first night though. The heated towel rail had been left on, which didn’t bother us at first, but we realised pretty quickly that the air conditioning wasn’t working. We tried everything we could think of… changing the temperature, switching the fan on manually, trying both the hottest and coldest settings. Nothing happened. We figured it must just be broken, so we went out for the evening and hoped the room wouldn’t get too warm.
That night ended up being one of the worst nights sleep we’ve ever had in a hotel. The room just kept getting hotter and hotter, and at 2am there didn’t seem to be anything we could do apart from put up with it and tell staff in the morning.
We mentioned it to two different members of staff the next day. They were both lovely and said it would be sorted while we were out. When we came back around 3pm though, the room was still boiling. We went back to reception and a manager came up to check. She walked in and straight away said that it definitely wasn’t right. She rang whoever handles maintenance, but they basically brushed it off and said they had only checked the heating and it was “getting hot”, which wasn’t true because the fan wasn’t coming on at all and the temperature never changed.
We headed back out for the evening to watch a band and told them we’d be back around 11
