I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, and I’ve never experienced something as ridiculous as this. The checkout time was already very early (10 a.m.), but when I asked to leave my bags for a few hours, the front desk told me they could only hold them for two hours — and that after that, they would throw them away. Yes, literally discard them.
The man at reception said this quite rudely and didn’t seem to care at all how unreasonable it sounded. I travel frequently, including in Japan, and this has never happened anywhere else. Most hotels happily store bags for half a day or even until the evening.
On top of that, there was a strong cigarette smell in the hallways, which made the place feel unpleasant and unclean. And despite what the listing suggests, the hotel is actually quite far from Ginza and the main Metro lines, making it inconvenient to get around.
Having to check out early and being threatened that your belongings will be thrown away if you’re late by a few minutes is beyond excessive. Combined with the smell and poor location, I would absolutely never stay here again — and I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
