The room was ok & the bed comfy with a nice to go breakfast supplied. However, each wall sconce had 1 bulb broken, the curtain was badly torn, the wardrobe very shaky and the bathroom dirty with mould on seams & screen with peeling paint & render on ceiling & walls.

To check in you have to call a number and are then directed to the appropriate key safe. No staff present. Breakfast in a bag outside your door in the morning. The place is in need of a refit. My room was ok. No TV working. Everything very basic. Very expensive for what is offered. More of a hostel type place. Would I return? No. Not good enough the price.

Great location and value for money

The host was most helpful when I got there and have not received a door code as I only booked an hour before. It is an old manor house with lovely creaky floors and doors. It was very clean and smelled lovely. The room was adequate, the bathroom clean enough.

This is the creepiest place I have ever been. The best moment is the day I left. This place should not be in business, this place should be shut down by the Environmental Health Authorities. It isn’t worth even half of a star.

Good location and surroundings but tired

The hotel is in a good location in nice surroundings, although the road noise was significant overnight. The hotel in general is tired and the room had a musty mould smell which was overpowering. No one on reception so call a number to get the code to enter, then another code to get the key for your room. Breakfast was packed up and left outside the room door in the morning, but was sufficient and suited me as had to be away early. Would have appreciated better coffee.

Avoid if possible

When I booked this the impression was of a much nicer place. It's very dated, old and grotty. They did leave a bagged breakfast in the room that was good and very nice of them. The wording in the booking was 'upmarket' which clearly is untrue. Even the map location is incorrect by some 100+ metres meaning I had to call the property. I would not stay again and sadly can't recommend it. It's not even especially cheap given the competition locally.

I appreciate that in life “you get what you pay for” and this hotel is on the lower end of price scale however the room was beyond dirty. The only thing that was clean was the bed linen, thankfully The floor didn’t look like it had been hoovered in weeks, the little dressing table and bedside table were sticky and covered in crumbs as was the stool. There were slug trails visible on the carpet and sure enough when I got back at 2230 there was one in the bathroom and one by the dressing table. Don’t put anything (and I mean anything) on the floor. Also breakfast is a to-go bag and to be honest based on what I’d seen I wasn’t unhappy that all the food was pre packed.

This property is not what is shown in the photos . The hotel is run down , grass is over grown , bathroom dirty with cracks and tiles , TV not working is at it should with lines down it , missing light bulbs , cracked tile , bedside Lamp not working , wires hanging from the TV ,dirty blinds, dirty towels , dining room not used for breakfast , its closed and has been for sometime , breakfast was advertised as a buffet it was in a bag not a buffet . Bath panel cracked and not connected to the bath. Smell in room , had to buy a candle and febreeze.

Extremely disappointing one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced. I’m a frequent traveller and have stayed in hotels across a wide range of standards, but this was unquestionably at the bottom of the list. There was no proper reception on arrival. Instead, I found a handwritten note on the door with a phone number to call for access, followed by instructions to collect my room key from a key box. Hardly the welcome you expect from a hotel. The “breakfast” was even more disappointing a paper bag left outside my room containing an orange dessert and a chocolate roll. That’s not what I would describe as breakfast. The room was poorly maintained, with spiders and webs around the bed, bedposts and throughout the bathroom. The television was stuck at an extremely low volume and couldn’t be adjusted or switched off, leaving me to hunt for a hidden wall socket behind it just to turn it off. Then came the bath. The plug became stuck, leaving the bath full of dirty water. After contacting the hotel, I was eventually given a screwdriver the following day and had to remove the plug myself. Quite honestly, this was a very poor experience from start to finish. I’ve stayed in some very basic hotels over the years, but this one sets a remarkably low standard. I certainly won’t be returning.

Incredibly friendly and helpful owner, just a 5min and £4/5 uber to the centre of town, worked out much cheaper doing that than being in town. Lovely setting, slightly dated, cute breakfast (handy if on the go too!) but spacious room and would stay again! Plenty of free parking on site too.

Upon arriving at Hopine house, we were greeted with a bell not working, so fun getting in, no greeting. Phone numbers stuck to door, first no answer, second eventually answered us, Got code to door to self check in, no checking of reference or anything. My husband felt the lady was abrupt. Upon getting to the door; and going in it wasn’t the room that was booked. The room itself was dingy, too warm ; dusty, dead flies in bathroom, dead bugs on carpet , bathroom wasn’t clean. It was very disappointing so much so we couldn’t rest and left at 4am as we both couldn’t settle. Very disappointing etc. Someone to greet would be nice, the tea, coffee making facilities a hobbit would remain thirsty. Kettles placed with no near plug point. There’s no care, consideration or anything in regards to the property inside and out. Staff that’s a joke there is none.

Arrival was efficient even though we had to phone for the key code to get into reception to get our room key from a key safe. Room had a four post bed and was on the ground floor which was great. Room theme was good throughout and in keeping with the buildings age. However the place was thilthy cobwebs everywhere not sure if this was part of the theme 😂 the bathroom was disgusting and not cleaned from previous guests. Such a shame otherwise would be a great place. Breakfast was delivered early in a picnis style paper bag and left outside our door for us.

On a positive note there were no problems parking and the bed was fairly comfortable. However. . . Half the lights and the TV remote didn't work. Tea / coffee facilities seemed well past sell by date. Bathroom could have done with a deep clean. Never did find out if WiFi was available as my texted message was not answered.

The amenities were non existent. Bathroom had peeling paint and mildew. Nowhere to put toiletries. Stuffy room with no ventilation or fans for the heat. Proprietor absent. Entered the premises after getting instructions over the phone. No info on places to eat or things to do. No hot food. Breakfast delivered via a paper bag in the morning and left outside our room. Location good, big room. I would not recommend this to anyone.

This could be a beautiful place, but the property has seen better days and we felt it looked rather sad. Autumn leaves in entrance way. Note pinned to the door with a couple of mobile numbers. Person answered, explained how to use the keypad lock box to release room key. No-one at reception. Room furnished in traditional way with clean bedding. Bathroom had over bath shower. Two small bath towels, 1 small hand towel which we used as bath mat. Loo roll, no holder, Clean. Tray with kettle (which wouldn’t fit under tap), cups, saucers, teaspoons. 3 teabags, 3 coffee sachets and 4 milks. Booking included breakfast. Were very surprised when we opened door in the morning to head to the breakfast room to find two white paper bags on the floor outside the door! Breakfast - chocolate brioche, satsuma, tub of instant porridge, Blue Riband wafer, yogurt, capri sun orange drink. Not exactly what we had been expecting! On arrival i asked if we would meet in the morning, which they agreed would happen. However, we never saw anyone apart from other guests trundling their bags to the car park. Put key back in box as we left. Outside several rooms were chairs and tables. Weather was hot so was good to open French doors to let air. Outside generally slightly unkempt with evidence that it had once been pretty stylish, with statues and attractive furniture behind hedge. Muntjac deer in the grounds. Parking free. Front of property neater than elsewhere. Needs TLC and staff present.

Maybe building little older clean line bit old not same big hotel what looked like. Staff very helpful how we are get a keys . National park is very good. We are didn’t have a breakfast so can’t tell. Car park is okay free . Overall is okay.
