Tarrytown House Estate - Tarrytown

This is a beautifully appointed hotel with extraordinary staff who welcomed us and were so considerate and aware of our needs. My husband has difficulty walking and they placed us in an easily accessible room and helped us with our luggage. The room was rich looking but warm and the bed was very comfortable.

This hotel is marked 4-star by hotels.com. It is a 3-star at best. My room had intermittent hot water for which they made all kinds ofTar excuses but didn't fix it. They changed my room to one with hot water but it was a smaller room. Not what I paid for. Breakfast is not included. Expect to pay an exorbitant price at the hotel but there is in Tarrytown […] a nice coffee shop with excellent food and low prices less than 10 minutes away. I got totally wrong check-out info from a Spanish speaker at the counter in the lobby. Don't expect many English speakers at that counter. If your trip is for one or two days such as a wedding this place is OK. If longer, go somewhere else. I stayed six days and won't go back there on my next trip. Tarrytown has much colonial history. The hotel is hard to find in the night but once you get there it glows. A confrence center with a theme, it would be great for any occasion. The surrounding area is steeped in history. The mansions are well kept. When you leave the hotel go to left on Broadway and drive to the Shell station @ Main.A small resturant at the oppisite corner serves breakfast […] for $5.00. I was only here one night over Thanksgiving and I was pleased with the quality of the hotel. Moreover, I was very happy with the hotel staff - just wonderful people. The hotel and surrounding area has a rich history and one of the gentlemen working there took the time to give me the historical details. Just awesome.

The hotel location is convenient to access to Hwy I287 north and sourth, and Hwy I87 north and sourth. The location is also close to White Plains, NY. It is a unique setting different from a normal hotel setting. The staff were extremely helpful in navigating our way to White Plains, Yankee Stadium, shopping malls, the Bronx, and downtown Mahathan. […] Easy access to designated computer and printer for guests and with assistance from the front desk staff in signing in and navigating on the internet. The Hotel is located in a beautiful area--near Sleepy Hallow. I was there for business for 4 days. Parking lot to far away for anyone handicapped. Lots of steps. Skip breakfast it's over priced. Great location

I've stayed here a few times and always enjoyed it. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed, at a very reasonable price. I always come back here when I work in this area. Only thing to watch: the walls are not very soundproof in most of the building. Noisy neighbours will be heard.

The grounds of Tarrytown House are really lovely. The inside of the hotel/conference center is underwhelming. The rooms were good-sized and clean, but fairly bland. The biggest issue were the paper-thin walls; I got about 4 hours of sleep because of noisy neighbors and really loud conversations in the hallway.

A few comments: Saturday night late party people making lots of noise in hallway. Considering I was short on rest and had to awake early, I was a little upset, but managed to fall back to sleep.Sound from neighboring rooms a bit loud. Burned out light bulb pulled out to leave for maid was only put back in lamp and not replaced. Beautiful old Buildings […] and grounds. We stayed at Tarrytown House Estate on the way back to JFK airport. What a beautiful way to end our vacation. We would love to go back some day and spend more time there. The grounds are beautiful, the room very comfortable, and the staff were very nice. We took advantage of the chairs overlooking the green and watched the deer in the evening. We had […] drinks in the Tavern and dinner at the restaurant. Both had high quality food and drinks and the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed in the Putnam unit of the hotel and the only problem was getting from the lobby to our room. There is not an elevator that can take you from the 5th floor down to the 2nd floor. Very impressed with hotel/house surroundings. Beautiful wooded area. Missed out on visiting nearby attractions, went during hurricane Irene to help son and family...WILL BE BACK FOR MORE TIME OUT AND FUN. Customer attention great, and caring. Lovely place quality surrounding but no bar midweek busy at weekends only

We chose the hotel because it looked like a spacious and comfortable property within reasonably easy reach of New York City. We were not disappointed. The grounds are enormous and the amenities of good standard - liked the outdoor pool and the gym. The rooms were unspectular in decor but well kept and very comfortable - no complaints at all. Visitors […] need to understand that this place is big on conferences and weddings which means that very occasionally one feels a bit crowded out but it's not a big complaint because of the size of the place. Made a nice change from the usual chains - Marriott etc. A few small niggles:- no coffee shop, few childrens cable channels on the TV (lack of Disney channel was a disappointment for some of our party!). My husband and I and another couple stayed here two weeks prior to this trip. We loved it so much we immediately booked a second stay upon our arrival home from the first stay. There are so many things to do and see here that it takes more than one trip to really take it all in. We arrived early on a day when the hotel was hosting a huge 300 person […] event and there were tons of people everywhere, including a lot of children. I haven't anything against kids, however, this hotel seems to be set up for adult enjoyment more than it is for kids so the place was a little crazy for the first few hours that we were there. As I said, we arrived early but went to the desk to let them know we were on the grounds for when a room became available. This is a "king bed" reservation but "first come, first served" hotel and we wanted to ensure a king bed since that's my main reason for staying away from home in a local hotel. We went to the pool house, put on our bathing suits and laid by the pool for a few hours. We had a nice lunch with pretty good sangria at that pool's cabana, then when it was time I formally check us in. Our room was lovely, last time we stayed in Kings Mansion, this time in the Putnam house and it was great!! I read that the place can be a bit like a maze in these buildings and I do agree with that, however, as long as one can read, it was/is no trouble to find your way around. I am looking forward to going back again, maybe in the fall sometime when all of the beautiful greenery on the grounds will be changing colors. I still have not had the chance to take the walking tour so I really want to get back to check that out too. The bar, lounge, game room et al at cellar 49 are all great. We spent our last day with thunder storms so we swam in the indoor pool and sauna, worked out in the gym, then the husbands played pool in the game room while we sat in the lounge and played a game my friend had brought while we sipped tea and coffee and had snacks from the kitch Leia mais

only one complaint - cleaning person knocked on our door at 8 AM to clean room

Family of four with twin 5 year old girls stayed in a room with two double beds. We had a ball in the pools and loved the grounds. The sleeping not-so-much because the double beds are small and the walls are thin. Wanted to go back on our return trip, but the cost of two rooms was prohibitive and the hotel would not allow a roll-in owing to fire code […] restrictions. Leia mais

We had a stellar, 1st class experience at the estates. Cannot wait to go back. Truly relaxing atmosphere- fantastic food at the restaurant (w a friendly chef!). I barely want to tell you about it because I want to keep it to myself. Just go. It's worth the stay.

Very nice hotel with beautiful grounds. It really is an estate more than it is a hotel. Would be a great place for a conference. But I stayed there just as for an overnight on my way to Brooklyn. Stay here if you can.

The layout of the hotel is extremely confusing and maze like. Not at all convenient. It's also just plain ugly. There was no one around to help except 2 people at the front desk. No one offered to get our luggage, which would have been nice, since we couldn't find our room. It was on the 5th floor and the elevator only went to the third floor! We didn't know what we were getting in to when we booked for one night, and were shocked to pull into the Estate. Rolling, beautifully manicured lawns and gardens, historic houses and a modern, luxury room. Absolutely first rate. I spent part of memorial day weekend at Tarrytown House Estate and it was the perfect two-day quick trip from the NYC area. It was so conveinent to take the Metro North and a fast, cheap cab ride to the hotel, that we got there from the city in less than an hour. The grounds of the hotel themselves were beautiful and the front desk was very accomodating, […] and actually checked us in two hours earlier than the stated check-in time. The pool and pool-side bar were wonderful to enjoy on a hot day, even though it is not a heated pool so it was still a little chilly. The Cellar 49 and breakfest buffet were both delicious. Although the location is a little remote for those interested in jam-packed activities, it is perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax. We took a nice walk over to Lyndhurst to enjoy the grounds and Sunnyside, so it was actually perfectly located as far as we (i.e. people who don't have a car) were concerned. We had a great weekend away from the city. The hotel was nicer than I expected. The grounds were very well maintained and service was lovely. Great weekend destination for NYC families! We swam, played tennis, and had a great meal. Breakfast buffet was okay - nothing special.

Consider staying at this unique and beautiful property.

This hotel is the best value in the White Plains area, it offers luxury accomidations yet it's less than the named chains. You will be pleased.

We had to make a quick visit to Yonkers, NY for a funeral. Yonkers is not a great place to stay but we needed to be close. I remembered the Tarrytown house because we had our wedding breakfast there in 2003. It was just as wonderful last week as it was 8 years ago. Rooms were super. Bed and linens so comfortable. Parking is a bit far from the rooms. Might be a problem if one is elderly or physically challenged. This was our second stay and we'll never tire of the beautiful buildings, views of the Hudson River and grounds.

We were very pleased with the exquisite grounds and comfort of this hotel. The staff was very helpful, and accommodated my early check-in request. Exceptional staff. Great food. Room was standard and no view. We should have upgrated. Walls a bit thin. Caught a comedy show in town. Overall a great stay.

I found this hotel threw hotel.com and it was a great catch. The service, location, and cleanliness was 5*****. I would Recommend to all!

The royal grounds complete with castle is the real appeal of this country club like layout. The room was very clean and comfortable

I'm not sure how much this place costs in the summertime, but it was definitely very good value if you stay there in November. I'm very happy with the general upkeeps of this hotel. Only minuses are: 1. No mini-fridge. It'd be nice to be able to keep my leftovers fresh. 2. It's like a maze trying to get to the gym from where I was. 3. The gym's heat […] is turned up way too hot. Requested a king size bed/room. When arrived was given the keys to our room, we went in and it was TWO Twins; when we went back to the check-in registration we were told that it was a REQUEST ONLY and that it was first come first serve. We were not given any options to move to another room, be put on list, apologies, or any complementary items to compensate […] for the inconvenience. The good: Best fitness center I've ever seen. If you're into free weights or more pro-sport type of fitness gear, they have it. Plus a racket ball court (!) which you can use for volley, basket ball. OK rooms - tired -- but nice enough for price -- clean -- were probably lovey in grandma's the day. Bathrooms are huge which makes up for some of the […] tiredness. The, eh: Rooms a bit loud -- not the best construction. Lots of hall way noise. Hard to find your way around. Lots of walking from parking to units. The bad: Parking terrible -- not enough of it -- hard to find a space -- tight spaces, schlep to your room after, always up hill. Restaurant terrible. We waited for 10 min for a table. Place was empty. Waiter promptly notified us they were out of all steaks and soups and some other items. Service pretty OK -- food terrible for price -- it's pub-quality food for 30 bucks an entree. If you want to spend that kind of money on dinner travel 25 min to NYC for world-class food for same price. Room service even worse -- more expensive for entrees -- near and at 40 bucks for same crap + deliver charge, service charge, and 18% gratuity. Crazy. No place to eat nearby, no menus in rooms but front desk did have some. (but you have to walk outside and up a hill to get there). Not kid friendly. "Game Room" shown on web site does not allow children at all. I was playing fuseball with my 10YO daughter, nobody else there, and we were asked to leave by a security guard. Total JERKS. Leia mais

Everything about our stay was superlative! Several days before our arrival, I called the concierge to get information regarding train service to Manhattan and received prompt, accurate and courteous information. We arrived at the hotel at about 2 a.m., and the check-in process was completed in a matter of seconds. The room was clean and comfortable […] and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The pillows were so great that my wife and I plan on buying the same type when we get home. The location was really easy to get to and from the highway. The reservation was for three people. The room contained 2 double beds. We asked for a cot,but were told that a cot would not be possible in that room. We then asked for another room,and were placed in a room with a king bed in another section of the hotel. A cot was brought in. The first room was beautiful,with granite countertops and a small refrigerator. […] The second room had not been renovated,and was not as nice.
