Perissa may be renowned for its black sand beach, but this coastal village on Santorini should also please both gourmands and leisure seekers with its variety of restaurants and activities. Bikes are a preferred mode of transport in Perissa and can be hired inexpensively. Nearby Emporio is Santorini’s largest village, and is known for its winding alleys, blue-domed churches, and hillside windmills. Long-haul hikers can also follow a footpath to the ruins of Ancient Thera, and continue to the picturesque village of Kamari, roughly a 2-hour trip away.
