We recently stayed in a Budget Unit, and here’s my honest review:
Positives:
The location is great, right next to the beautiful Lochiel Park Wetland with a lovely walkway, perfect for morning or evening strolls.
It’s about a 25-minute drive to central Adelaide, convenient for city access.
The bed was comfortable.
The unit included a microwave, cutlery, and fridge, which was very handy for preparing simple meals.
Negatives:
Noise was a major issue. I could hear every word spoken by neighbours until 3 am in the mornings, plus fights and loud TVs from neighbours, making it hard to relax or sleep.
The little tables that are bolted to the wall cause anything placed on them by neighbors to sound like constant banging against the thin walls-very irritating, especially at night.
The shower door was jammed open and couldn’t slide closed.
The bathroom walls had cracks all along, which gave an impression of poor maintenance.
The front door’s wooden threshold was loose, posing a safety concern.
The unit smelled strongly of old smoke and mould, so much that my hair still smelled the same the next morning.
There was a door between our unit and the neighbour’s unit covered by a loose cabinet, that door rattled all night due to wind drafts.
Those sensitive to noise and smells might want to consider other accommodation options.
