Room we were originally given reeked of carpet resolve or some chemical cleaner. It watered our eyes. We were allowed to change rooms, though second room had similar - if less strong - chemical smell.
After returning from dinner, front door was locked. We knocked, pounded, rang doorbell, and called front desk for over ten minutes while standing in 20 degree weather. When we were let in finally, we angrily asked where the front desk person was, to which he said “I was upstairs setting something up for tomorrow [NYE], I apologize, but you WON’T disrespect me.”
A surreal experience. We checked out and got a hotel down the street. The Detroit club was a gem when I lived in the city years ago. Alas. Will never return and will seek refund for a night we did not even use.
