This had the potential to be a charming property, but the way that it presented itself in photographs was not how it really was!! It is a very old building and the hallways and rooms were actually slanted and this was very disconcerting. It was a huge step down from the bathroom to the sleeping room, which was hard to navigate at night. After a day of hiking outdoors, there was no hot water for a shower and one of us took a barely lukewarm shower and the one who wanted a hot bath just skipped it. There was a desk chair that was made out of metal lattice and was so uncomfortable to sit on that it was unusable, and the padded chair was offkilter and slanted. The elevator was probably 100 years old and the brass accordion door tended to slam on you while you were trying to get in and out. Otherwise, comfortable beds, OK pillows, not really enough blankets for a fairly drafty room. Again, if websitehad not created such highexpectations, we might not have felt as bad about the facilities, except not having hot water is kind of inexcusable.
Also, regarding check-in when we arrived at the place, the desk clerk was gone, and there was no sign up, and there were several parties waiting to check in, and we were all ready to call the police when she finally reappeared after a ābreakā.
