I'll start with the positive since it's quick. The beds are very soft and comfortable, clean bedding, AC worked great, and was quiet. Room smelled and appeared clean except the carpet which had multiple questionable stains that concerned me to the point we wore shoes while walking on it. The front desk gals were very nice with everything that they were able to help with.
However, I picked this hotel because of the location and mostly the deck which looked like my kind of place to hang out. Low and behold, I couldn't use it because it's a smoker's paradise (both cigarettes and weed) and I have allergies. I tried to go out to enjoy the patio and had to move twice because of smoke then asked one person who came out if they could refrain (they politely did) only to have 2 more people come out and light up. For this, I went back to my room and was deeply disappointed that I didn't get to utilize the reason I chose the hotel in the first place. Front desk said that the smokers have no where else to go smoke. Right. On our last day we were going to sleep in since we were at a jazz club later and check out wasn't until 11am. Housekeeping came knocking on the door at 830am. I hollered, "no thank you," but the banging continued. Needless to say I didn't get back to sleep. Housekeeping came back AGAIN at 10am to see if we were out. I've never had that happen at a hotel.
Needless to say I wouldn't personally recommend or return to Sonesta, unless maybe you're a smoker.
