Like the curate's egg - good & bad.

Comfortable room & bed. In town centre so v convenient. Could only get scalding hot water out of shower (room 2), despite trying all knobs in all directions so had to wash hair in washbasin. Breakfast very disappointing (hot drink & a hot filled roll the only options). Very noisy somewhat rundown pub.

Stayed for a wedding on arrival we were checked I by bar staff. Asked do we want breakfast to we said 9am. Beds were clean but the all Round the hole was hotel itself had piles of rubbish dumped everywhere. No on site staff to speak to. Went to breakfast for 9am Chef was late but the staff just ignored us. We had to leave with out breakfast. To which we had payed. There was a pile of rubbish in corner of dining room covered in either a carpet or some velvet. Absolutely minging.

Lovely experience

Friendly and helpful staff who even took us back to the event in the morning to pick our car up! Comfortable rooms and a lovely cooked breakfast. Cosy atmosphere - very old building but lots of character Would stay again Thank you x

Ok!

We arrived on friday late morning, i had managed to contact hotel to ask if we could arrive at 11.30 as we had a wedding at 1.00. When we arrived rhe room was not ready but didnt have to wait long. The room was ok quite small and no where to hang clothes just 2 coathangers on the back of the door! Bed was clean and comfortable but you jave to climb into bed fro.the end as no room to get in the side? Bathroom was ok but shower had no pressure and wasnt very warm. Breakfast was lovely and the lady cooking it was very polite and helful.when leaving yiu just put your keys into a box noone avout. Would i go again not really sure!!

Whilst not expensive, the hotel was very basic. The worst problem for us was the fact that the Breakfast staff weren't expecting us. The person who registered us got us to fill out a breakfast form, but didn't pass it on to the kitchen staff. As a result, the poor woman on breakfast duty was totally panicked and things didn't go to plan. For example, we were offered no cereal or fruit juice, and none were available for self-service, despite the reception woman having told us this would be the case.

Very characterful inn.

This is a very ancient timber beamed pub and inn in an historic old town. Thereā€™s car parking at rear, and a buzzy atmosphere. Friendly local darts players filled the pub but there was a quiet peaceful area with parasols and trestle tables outside if you wanted a quiet drink. Delicious Guinness pulled by an expert.

Very clean and well presented room. Reasonably priced drinks, to be honest the whole bar was cheap. Friendly and considerate hosts, along with the clientele. Well done Joe and Darren, and family

Evening staff helpful. No dining facilities (was advertised with these). Room above bar noisy. Breakfast served as pre-ordered then man who served it disappeared and I finally left the hotel without seeing anybody, just left muy key ona desk.

Could have been better

Nice clean decor in room although the bathroom extractor fan was thick with dust and fluff (canā€™t understand how when everything else seemed clean) TV didnā€™t have any aerial connection so it was replaced with a new smart TV but not connected to the WiFi. Bistro wasnā€™t open and the rest of the town was lacking in eateries, especially early in the week.

Disappointing

The rooms were the smallest we have ever stayed in. The floors were sloping, the bathroom was the width of the shower cubicle. The second room we booked was equally as small neither room had a wardrobe but one had a rail and some coat hangers. In the second room booked the TV didn't work and the owner wasn't interested in sorting this out. The toilet in their bedroom had a very feeble flush and both showers were more of a trickle. We booked this hotel as it offered Bistro food but when we arrived we were told they weren't doing food at the moment. The signs are still outside saying that it had a Bistro. They did however do a cooked breakfast for us in the mornings. The room shown on your website is a lot larger than what we had. The electrics in our room had bare wires showing. Also there was a gap where the window didn't fir properly. All in all a very disappointing stay.

Shower was full of black mould. Questionable wiring and light in the shower. No hot water to sink in morning other than boiling the kettle. Perhaps in the shower but we weren't prepared to try. When next door room came back at night we could see there light through a crack in the wall below wood beam.Welcoming broken pane of glass in front door of inn. Bar staff and customers were very friendly however not as previous rewiews

There was stuff everywhere in the hotel, the bar, and the dining room areas. It was cluttered and messy. There was no hot water from the bathroom sink. The room was clean, but tatty. Other than that, the staff were friendly and helpful.
