A very authentic Japanese inn. I’m sure it is one of the most luxurious places in the area. If you choose to have dinner at the hotel it will be a reasonable extra fee. Our room had a dining area where our meals were presented. The are very professional in a very friendly way. The Bamboo bar was very special.

This property is one of a kind. The staff is amazing and will do everything they can to make your stay feel special and like your the only people there. The hotel itself is beautiful from the infinity pond with the bamboo forest behind it to the walkways to your room and beyond, and the food… the food is to die for. It’s an elegant selection of many dishes

Amazing and magical experience! The hospitality of the staff is at a very high standard. Perfect for couples. Every room is different but they each have a private onsen with hot spring water. Only stayed one night and it’s been highlight of our 2 week Japan trip so far.

Would definitely stay again

Our one night stay was incredible - the kaiseki dinner was wonderful and the staff warm and friendly. The highlight would be the private onsen on the rooftop where we sat watching the sunrise at 6.30am while enjoying the warmth of the onsen. One of the most memorable ways to start off the morning we have experienced!

Best hotel experience ever!!

Absolutely incredible. Only 9 rooms and ours, Sora, had an incredible view with the onsen on our private roof deck We didn’t see any other guests the entire time. Service was best we’ve ever had as compared to any other five star hotel and food was three-Michelin star quality. There is a reason this place is rated as the #1 ryokan.

Booked here for the first two nights of our honeymoon to relax and time adjust ( coming from Boston ). Not only is the property and rooms stunning and the hot spring bath in our room relaxing, but the food is also incredible ! We had two dinners and two breakfasts here and were blown away. My Husband also got sick before we left and the staff took incredible care for him, even driving him to the doctor on our second day. I cannot say enough wonderful Things about this ryokan.

Staying at this property was the ideal way of getting away from it all. Total chill, with amazing service. The dinner and breakfast were terrific, although some might be challenged by some of the more exotic dishes, which I understand the chef will gladly change for guests. The location is also great for getting up to the lake for a cruise and/or the cable ride to the top of the mountain for amazing views of Mt Fuji and the hot springs.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip and had the most magical time. Visited in July so although hot and humid outside, the AC worked great inside. Loved having our own private onsen and the provided bathroom amenities were quite lovely. Bathrobes, yukatas, slippers, towels, pajamas—everything is provided for guests to wear. And we wore our yukatas a lot! They take care of your shoes and umbrellas at the lobby and then you let them know when you are ready to adventure out for the day so they can prepare your shoes. Hotel in-room bar has a provided nespresso maker and included complementary bottles of wine, beer and fresh fruit juices. One of the best parts of the experience was having the very traditional and high quality breakfast and dinner catered to our room. Multiple course meal with some of the best sashimi, wagyu, eel that I’ve ever had. Truly felt like I was at a Michelin star restaurant that I could comfortably enjoy from my own room. We also tried the Bar Bamboo one evening and had the whole place to ourselves for an after-dinner drink. There is an easily accessible bus stop and Family Mart at the bottom of the hill if you need additional things (insect repellant in the summer is a must here!) I can’t say enough good things about this place. Already thinking about making a return trip.

Really dated, I was expecting a more high end feeling in details for the price tag but chipped wall painting, stained bathroom window etc makes the stay feels a bit cheap. Also there was this weird mirror in the bath room which felt so creepy and I ended up being awake the first night feeling scared. Staff were all very friendly and service was good but I was expecting a better hardware and property condition . Also this property is in middle of nowhere so it is very very quiet at night which I find a bit scary.

Probably one of the best/exclusive hotels I have ever stayed in. Service was top notch. I am a vegetarian and they did every possible thing to ensure that I have a great meal! If you request in advance they can do ton of vegan/vegetarian options. I loved every part of my 2 day stay. They are just so warm and the service definitely was great! We stayed in Sora and loved our onsen I think we went in it like 4/5 times a day.

If you want have a traditional Japanese experience, this is a wonderful place to spend one night only. Very relaxing , to much for me - not much to do. Bring a book -You can walk outside and have a lovely walk in the neighborhood but you better like your partner because you’re stuck in your room with him or her. The amenities are over the top. The hot tub is wonderful. The breakfast and dinner is very traditional Japanese. I didn’t eat much of it. The food was very weird lots of fish - but a wonderful wonderful experience nonetheless , glad I did one night - as an American who is wound up tighter than a bulls arsh in fly season- any longer I would’ve been bored out of my mind, . The staff couldn’t be more helpful. They were wonderful. The service is impeccable at dinner and breakfast. Everyone is so kind but it’s definitely a place that is very quiet if you go with your husband, you better like him ,lol , you’re in your room alone. Bring a good book. There are so many amenities you don’t even have to open your suitcase. Everything you need to exist in your room for a day or two and it’s all part of the cost.

Amazing stay. Food and service was perfect. My wife is vegetarian and they were so accommodating. The view from the private onsen was great.
