Great basic B&B style hotel

We stayed here for a few nights at the end of March. It is a small place right on the beach with more of a B&B style feel. Our room was maybe a 30 second walk to the beach. The room itself was very basic; small fridge, bed with mosquito net, no tv, and basic bathroom amenities. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Honestly, they were great from the minute we arrived to check out. The hotel is located at a quieter section of the beach. However, you could also easily either walk the beach or catch an auto into the more active part of town (where most of the restaurants and bars were located). The hotel has a great open eating area where breakfast was served every morning and breakfast was great. Overall, if you are looking for a budget friendly, basic beach front hotel, this is a good choice.

Cozy hotel in very quiet beach

We thoroughly enjoyed our family stay here. Breakfast was very enjoyable and the beach was superb- perfect for walking, swimming, boogie boarding, and sunsets.

Personalet var venlige og hjælpsomme. Hotellet ligger et par km fra midtbyen. Værelset var nedslidt med gammelt interiør. Desuden lugtede der indelukket på værelset. Det trænger til at blive renoveret. Til gengæld var det tæt på stranden, så udsigten var perfekt.

Clean and quiet hotel right on the beach!

We took the train from Colombo to Hikkaduwa, and then took a tuk-tuk to our hotel. The taxi only cost 300 Rupees, but if you're feeling adventurous it can be walked on either the road or along the beach in under an hour. The hotel is small with only 4 rooms, but is perfect for someone looking for a quiet and relaxing stay. It is located at the end of Hikkaduwa beach, so there are not many people around. We stayed in the 'Elephant Room' located upstairs. It had a nice bed, A/C, and a nice bathroom. The balcony also overlooked the courtyard and faced the beach. The complimentary breakfast was always good. Fresh fruit, tea & coffee, and then various main items that the manager made sure to ask if we would want the day before. No lunch or dinner options here, but there are many places to eat close-by. Walking down the beach there are many small and family restaurants that are very inexpensive and delicious. There is a large hotel next door that also serves more international foods, but we learned that it is very expensive, so I would stick to the local foods. There are also shops around for groceries, or a tuk-tuk is always nearby directly out the front door. The beach is large out front, but the water is a little rough in this area. To truly go swimming, you will need to walk a few minutes down the beach. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to the traveler seeking a more peaceful stay.
