"Hospitality on a level you'll seldom find"

Exceptionally service-minded and helpful couple running the motel/hotel. Safe and clean spot, surrounded by rainforest. Arrival by own car recommended.

Needs new pillows and mattresses

The staff, breakfast, and location were great, and the nearby capuchin monkeys and wildlife were delightful. But… a hotel has one main job to do: provide a comfortable bed and pillow for a good night’s rest. Our three-night stay wasn’t great. Bed and pillows didn’t cut it. We liked the help with getting transportation and an excursion to the Cloud Forest Reserve, but we were always dreading the night’s sleep. If you’re going to drive all the way to Monteverde, stay somewhere more comfortable.

The lodge was initially hard to find as it is called El Bosque Hotel not Eco Lodge on signage out front. The staff were friendly and welcoming and they use WhatsApp to communicate which was helpful. We are a family of 4, 2 kids, 2 adults so we had a large room with 4 beds which was nice but there was no place to store any of our belongings— one desk and 2 small night stands only, a shelf or dresser would be helpful. The included breakfast was good. My only complaint about it is that it is from 630-830 and we slept until 8 a couple days (we are on vacation and from an earlier time zone) and then missed it. We did do a hike from the property which was nice and saw monkeys outside our room— super cool! Overall a nice stay!

Unpleasant experience

The room was very moist without any air conditioning. All the beddings feel wet. Especially at night it was so cold and uncomfortable. At checkout the owner took my credit card, write down the info instead of just charge it directly. I thought it was strange. So the charge came after I left the place and i noticed i was charged extra! I had to try to get a hold of the owner to correct the amount. Though it was corrected this was unnecessary stress for my trip. Would not recommend!

One night

Joshua did our check in and a big thank to him. He organized everything for us in a short time so that we were able to do all the activities we wanted in one afternoon. Really really much appreciated. A part from the lovely welcome, the hotel is simple but really nice and clean. It really feels like being a ranch and we appreciated our stay

Nice place outside of town

The property is really nice but there is no reception area so the check in is at the restaurant and took a long time. The bed I slept in in the family room was not very comfortable but it worked.

Staff super cordiale. Bungalow molto carini dall'esterno, essenziali all'interno.

Loved the location for 2 major reasons: 1. On a preserve with multiple hiking trails that lead to a creek. We saw monkeys, birds, agounti, etc just by walking out our door! 2. The restaurant Tramonti associated with property is the best food we had in Costa Rica. We went there 2 nights in a row!

Great Rustic Hotel in MonteVerde. Clean and cheap. Had the night tour with Liz, she was a blast, highly recommend, best thing we did in MonteVerde!

Place was great. No A/C but was very cool outside in evening. Bathroom could use a remodel but it was clean! Would recommend for family room.

The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are clean and authentic except for the spiders but they are part of the experience. The showers have no water pressure and are not always warm. The staff is wonderful. It’s a very peaceful place to stay. The breakfast is traditional and delicious.

We we're very happy with our stay here, clean, comfortable and affordable, and a great value for the price. Certainly not perfect, it's not a 5 star resort, but for the price you have a comfortable safe property, toucans and hummingbirds with your yummy breakfast in the morning, and lots if places to relax and enjoy the stream going by the property or relax in the pool. You do need a vehicle though, as it's 5 minutes out of town

primitiv

Very primitiv facility. The cabine was of very low standard in comparison to the weather condition. We hard 2 days storm and rain at night. The cabin was not wind closed at all and the corrugated roofplates sounded like an orchester when it was raining. The separation wall between the 2 cabins was not sound proof at all and a coughing neighbor kept us awake. The water pressure was very poor and the shower was a drip drip shower

Hotel El Bosque is a quiet, nature-centric property tucked away from the main road in Monteverde. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the nature trails on the property were a lot of fun for a self-guided walk. I think your experience at El Bosque likely depends on the room you're in, though. Our room had a number of sizable spiders that came out from behind the woodwork after dark, the shower "drain" was a slow-running hole in the wall, and we had a water leak from underneath our bathroom sink on the second night. However a different room (which they put us in for one night while they tried to deal with the spiders) was much nicer, with tighter seams around the ceiling and a traditional shower drain. So if you're bothered by things like that, I still suggest Hotel El Bosque...just get in touch with them prior to check-in and discuss room selection in advance. The front desk is extremely understanding and helpful!

Avoid room num 1

Very nice place but avoid at all cost room num 1. This one has noise coming from the 2nd floor as well as the neighbor. Wall are cardboard so we could barely sleep with noise. The other rooms num (4 +) seams more isolated from neighbors. The rest of the property is incredible and clean.
