I went back and forth between 4 and 5. The hotel is nothing incredible our outstanding (a 5 in my mind tends to be) but at the same time, I did not want to be unfair, and the location for me it was excellent, it is clean and well mantained, nice bathroom, comfortable room (for one in my case), good service, it just all worked for what I needed, and it is my second time there. When I put it all together again, maybe not the most amazing hotel I've ever been at, but works, is nice, clean, friendly, well kept, and for a pretty reasonable price.
Want the full story? If I had to "criticize" something or forced to find any other things, well, I did arrive early, like 9am, and had to wait to get into my room at 4pm or so, so I left everything and went for a "long" walk around. Luckily it is NY, so no shortage of things to do, see or spots to grab a coffee or eat something. I wish they had had a room ready, but again, not their fault.
And the other suprise when arriving, was the tax per day, but that is not on them but on Expedia/Hotels for not being super clear about it, and on me for not checking it or remembering that I would have to pay it once I was there. Not huge, but a reminder or watch out if you do book through those platforms, that you'll be required to pay that so you don't get surprised like I did. (btw, maybe I would go to 4.5 stars, only because while this was on me, I would have loved the hotel to mention this when I did the check in, not when I checked out)
