Only booked this hotel because of the absence of any Marriott hotels near the airport, and no Hilton hotels in Kolkata. Figured that an IHG hotel will have basic standards of cleanliness and amenities which will suffice for a quick stopover between flights.
This is the most pathetic 1 star lodge that has paid people to write fake reviews and managed to have a 4.6 star rating on Google from 29K people.
I checked into the hotel at 11 pm after a long flight and tiring day, and came to the room which clearly had stain marks on the bedsheets and the pillowcases were used. The toilet was dirty with toilet paper still in the toilet bowl. Absolutely no amenities - one towel for double occupancy, one toothbrush, no slippers, water bottles from a random unknown company, extremely pungent smell. It was evident that the room was given to someone else for the day because I checked in so late, and then they didn't clean the room and gave it to me again.
I had to fight with housekeeping at 11 pm in the night to get some basic amenities to allow myself to rest. They still did their best assuming that the hotel management doesn't care at all. After requesting to see the duty manager who couldn't be bothered to come up to my room after pulling this kind of nonsense, I went down to talk to this most despicable person, and I've no idea how this person is allowed to manage a hotel that is a part of IHG.
I'm still at the hotel, and I'm fairly certain I won't even dare touch the breakfast.
