My husband and I went to the C’mon Inn for a mini staycation to celebrate his birthday. We usually enjoy the C’mon Inn, but on this weekend the place was overrun with children. Most were unsupervised and were filling all the hot tubs.
In my experience at other hotels, kids are not to be left unsupervised in hot tubs. They are meant to be hot, and can be dangerous for children to hang out in for long periods of time. All four of the hotels in the main area separate from the pool area, were occupied by kids. One occupied by a 2-3 year old with her water wings on in the hot tub alone. Adults were near but not with her. She was getting out and jumping back in to the hot tub repeatedly.
Two other hot tubs were filled with 8-10 year olds. No adults in the hot tub with them or close by to supervise. My husband and I waited for quite a while to gain access to a hot tub. When we finally did, maybe 5 minutes later several children came and joined us. It made my husband uncomfortable that we might be responsible for them if we stayed, so we left and went back to the room.
Our relaxing birthday weekend felt more like a kiddie party at Chuckie Cheeses.
I know we will consider another hotel the next time we want to relax and get away for a bit.
From the unruly children running up and down the halls squealing, the kids taking over the hot tubs unsupervised and the children leaving their messes around at breakfast, it was not a pleasant experience.
