Hotel Wedina is a solid choice for those who wish to experience the local side of Hamburg. Well placed near the train station (but not so close you get subjected to the noise), this hotel puts you in a huge cultural centre with access to local and global food, small businesses, artists, and cafes. I have stayed here for work several times because it feels less like a stamped-out hotel and more like coming 'home.' The only reason I consider this place good and not 100% excellent is because I have problems with dairy, and their breakfast - which covers a good spread of food types - isn't really friendly to those with dairy issues. However, I would not put anyone off staying here because that's my only minor quibble and there are loads of cafes and little shops nearby. If business brings me back to Hamburg, I will be staying here again.
