We’d booked a “deluxe suite”. It was a decent room, but not deluxe. The rooms did have great views from the full length windows, but the furniture and carpet were in need of tlc. The two rooms (bedroom and living space), combined weren’t as big as some rooms in other hotels. The restaurant resembled a canteen rather than a hotel restaurant (judging by the decor). However, the hotel location was great, with easy access to many restaurants, shops and malls. The shuttle service was excellent as it took you to key areas in the city centre, which were difficult to access due to the steepness of the terrain. However, for us the most disappointing part was the lacklustre staff. They’re meant to be in the hospitality business, which requires a modicum of people skills. Apart from Mike in concierge and the house keeping staff, no one demonstrated anything resembling pro activity, charm, or grace. They all looked like they’d lost their grandmother that day!! Even the young manager (didn’t catch his name) fell short. We were informed at short notice by Emirates that our flight to Dubai was delayed by a few hours due to the political situation in the Middle East. We asked for a short extension of our check out time. He demanded payment for it, which considering the circumstances was not particularly helpful. Anyway, will not be staying there if we ever return to HK.
