The first room I was in was located on the ground floor next to the doors to the gym and pool. People kept slamming doors going in and out of the gym and pool until well after midnight. They shouted down the hallway at one another. I fell asleep only because I used swimmer’s earplugs to block the noise. Also, the toilet bowl smelled like urine. I purchased $15 of cleaning supplies, including disinfectant and a toilet brush. I cleaned the toilet bowl that night. The next morning, I politely told the manager that I would not be able to finish out the remaining six days of my reservation. He offered me a room on the second floor. I accepted his offer. The second floor was quiet, but the room was a mess. The shower head was broken and kept falling off its perch, nearly hitting me on top of the head or on my face multiple times. The first time I showered, I saw a hotel guest’s worst nightmare: a stranger’s pubic hair in the shower. Not kidding. I nearly gagged. The disinfectant and other cleaning supplies that I purchased came in handy again, sadly. I went nuclear on the shower until it was clean without any hairs from strangers.
The manager never checked on my experience in this second hotel room, so I did not have an opportunity to complain. I would also say the breakfast food is frozen and defrosted, rather than cooked fresh each day. You’ll see what I mean when they serve omelettes.
On a positive note, the room had a powerful AC unit which kept me cool at night.
