This was perhaps the worst mistake I've ever made in booking a hotel room. Fine print doesn't say that it's a shared "all genders" restroom for men, in which 2 of the 3 showers were out of order and the third one was a filthy bathtub. Graffiti was riddled throughout the bathroom and I thought to myself..."this is probably pretty close to what prison feels like."
The room itself had A/C that barely worked and the bed was a plastic-covered mattress that the sheets couldn't grip, so the sheets kep sliding off the bed every time you moved, exposing the mattress itself. The coving in the room was absolutely disgusting and has probably never been cleaned.
I had a two night booking and grabbed a proper hotel for my second night, eating the cost because the place was so disgusting and in such rough shape.
Advice to UofT - if you want to rent out your dorm rooms to people attending the university in the summer session, do yourselves and your GUESTS a favour and at least have some pride in the product you are providing. This was lazy at best, but very negligent and off-brand. I wouldn't even want a student to stay in those quarters for the regular school year.
Gross. Felt like a homeless shelter.
