My son and I needed to stay somewhere from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm after departing a cruise. We were tired and wanted to rest before our long flight home.
We realized that we would have to book 2 nights to accommodate the hours, but we didn’t mind. So we booked the 2 nights and out of curtesy, called the hotel directly to tell them we wouldn’t be checking in until 7:00 am. The desk clerk, Sara, told us that they would not hold the room (even tho we paid for it in total), because our reservation would be deemed “no show”. Despite our explanation why, and having full payment, there was absolutely no understanding of our situation. We thought that she might just be an unpleasant person to deal with so we called that nite to explain our situation to the nite clerk. He said no problem and put a notation in our file. The next morning, Sara was back! She recognized who we were and told us we didn’t have a reservation anymore, that the “system” took us out because we didn’t checkin in time, etc. It took us an hour to checkin because she “had to find us a room”. This doesn’t begin to describe all the questionable people roaming around outside our room, moving household goods into rooms, drug dealing & women “under-dressed” for the environment. Yikes! Never again.
