Great location near nice restaurants and The Hudson but my room was very small! Hallway smelled like weed! Did Not get a chance to visit rooftop as line outside to get in was gigantic. Not sure I would stay there again.
Hotel staff was great but rooms were below sub par. Switched rooms once during a two night stay bc of bug problems: gnats and flies. Second room and entire hotel had gnats everywhere. Spoke to the front desk lady and gnats were circling her face, saw three bug spray cans on the table. Rooms are outdated and need renovation asap.
Security was unprofessional and lacked basic customer service skills. The guy at the front desk looked disinterested in checking me in.
Bed was comfy & tv had good channels. Only good thing I have to say about the room. Small, windows are abs filthy & rug had stains. When showering, I saw strands of hair scattered on tiles. Garbage tins in the room did not have a plastic lining & were dirty. Housekeeping is not avail daily due to the pandemic. If you need assistance contact the front desk. We were put in a room facing a construction courtyard & all we heard was drill noise even with the windows closed and AC on. You cannot change your room once you enter due to the regulation. The AC unit, cool air but at night the noise was very distracting with odd sounds in walls. As for the amenities, nothing is open in the hotel other than rooftop which is first come first served. You will have a very hard time trying to get a table. No standing space allowed, only tables. Everyday after 5pm, there is a line outside FULL of people trying to enter. Hotel guests are not prioritized for a table. Amenity charge is still $29 daily. When asked what the fee includes, they mentioned it is limited for wifi, coffee/tea in room & the rooftop (that you can’t even be on bc it’s open to the public). Tea was not offered in the room only coffee, & the machine was too dirty to even touch. Also, If you are planning to leave your bags after check out don’t bother b/c you can’t. We were unable to do so b/c of the pandemic. Only giving 2 stars b/c of the location. Conveniently located by the pier, soho, little Italy & much more.
In this crazy time I still wanted to still have a nice experience. Those who worked at the front desk was kind and helpful. The room was lovely and clean, with a awesome view. Also, the rooftop restaurant was great and the food - on point. I enjoyed my stay very much.
Really liked the hotel and friendly, helpful staff. My only criticism is slow restaurant and bar service. I would stay again.
I had a horrible experience. They are currently under construction so not only is it noisy, but looking out the windows were depressing. We bought a superior king room and it didn’t feel superior at all! The first room we were placed in was the second floor the room was extremely small and when I looked out the window I saw nothing because there was a big machine blocking it. We went down to the service desk and asked to be placed in a better room, we received attitude from the front desk employees and was placed on the third floor with the same issue of being placed next to all the construction stuff. The elevator took an eternity to get you from one floor to the next, but that’s not even the worse part! The next morning the alarms throughout the hotel kept going off, a front desk worker got on the intercom saying that “this was just a test” but from 8am (this is when I was woken up) until we finally gave up and checked out around 10:45 the alarm was still Going off at random. We complained about our experience and the man literally just grabbed a sheet of white paper and wrote “Room ###- Complaint”. My whole trip was ruined I received no sleep and left The Hugo hotel feeling defeated.
Great location for my needs. Spectacular views from top floors. Wind draft when windy outside, and noisy AC system when it terns on periodically.
Great location, outstanding service, fun rooftop bar
Rooms were not as clean or well kept as pictured
