I have been going to Seaside for decades. This was my first stay at this property. Our room was cute but could use a deep cleaning, especially carpet, furniture the fabrics, and the shower/bathtub/drains need to be cleaned and sanitized. The hallway by the ice machine smells terrible from wet carpet. I was disappointed that I did not get what I paid for at this hotel. I booked this exact room for the fireplace and views yet when we checked in the fireplace did not work. We called and were told that the pilot light was out. It could not be fixed until late the next day (after check out). I was so disappointed. I wanted badly to warm myself by the fireplace after returning from the cold, rainy, windy beach. I was looking forward to the fireplace. Reception should have informed us at check in that it didn't work, perhap offered us other options, or at least a discount or credit since I did not get the use of specific amenities I had booked and paid for. Please consider telling customers at check-in if the room is not as advertised or is lacking amenities that they booked, planned, and paid for. We did have a lovely stay. The view of the beach is awesome! Thank you.
