Great Little Place

The Elleray is pub/hotel itā€™s a traditional old building with sash windows, a dining area/lounge, bar and an outdoor beer garden. For the age and style of the building it was very clean in the rooms and public areas. The rooms are comfortable with a big telly, tea/coffee etc. The staff were excellent and friendly and helpful, the food was excellent as well and very tasty. They have a variety of drinks available including local guest ales although I didnā€™t try any, only thing Iā€™d mention is if youā€™re a Guinness drinker itā€™s the nitro surge which isnā€™t that nice but thatā€™s just personal choice. If you are in a vehicle parking is an issue, thereā€™s no parking on site or in the road next door, you can park on the main road overnight but during the day itā€™s only for an hour but I managed ok whilst there, you can also park in the rail station car park which you pay for. If youā€™re travelling by train the station is literally on the same road just a few minutes away, thereā€™s also an excellent Chinese restaurant next door which was very tasty and popular. Overall Iā€™d definitely recommend the Elleray, itā€™s ideal if youā€™re in a car for exploring and if youā€™re a walker youā€™ll enjoy the hike up the road from Bowness! But even if you just want a nice little break in a nice area itā€™s great. The only thing I would point out is the noise from the beer garden, it wasnā€™t from the Elleray but a pub further down, it didnā€™t bother us but if it does you Iā€™d ask for a room on the front or the side.

Amazing place - superb staff above all!

Absolutely wonderful weekend away. So many positives - perfect location, the town was literally downstairs, staff were just wonderful and bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. They were also amazingly lovely with my 4 year old. Food was divine! We ate downstairs in the pub in the first night and enjoyed it so much we returned the next night. The breakfast was super, one of the best full English breakfasts weā€™ve had. The room was well decorated, huge tv, spacious, had Netflix, Wi-Fi, plenty of storage and a welcome tray. Nothing was too much for the staff. The bed wasnā€™t too comfy though, but this was minor compared to everything else. We had an absolutely wonderful weekend and chose to come back early from our trips out so we could make the most of the comfort in the room and hotel.

Lovely Stay

We stayed here for two nights and had a lovely time. The room was abit on the small side but the hotel and the beer garden were really nice. The breakfast was delicious.

The room & the breakfast were quite nice but there was a dirty (used) spoon, which looked like it had honey licked off, on the breakfast saucer. The kettle in the room wouldnā€™t boil properly. The most annoying was no hot water for washing & showering on the morning & no number to contact anyone

Fantastic, took our 4 year old granddaughter and the staff made it extra special for her, her favourite sunflowers in room with a gorgeous daybed to heart and star shaped toast. Itā€™s the little touches that make a holiday. Ideal location, breakfast fantastic. Thank you Elleray

Fantastic service & stay

Very friendly staff, felt at home & welcomed. Right in Windermere & perfect with an older child-pub is open until 10pm so plays music but for us that wasnā€™t a problem. Would recommend to family/friends. Reasonably priced for the season/location. Also ate dinner there one night which was yummy!

Family stay

Enjoyed our weekend stay at the Elleray spacious family room with spacious ensuite (inc bath). The hotel is modern decor with a lovely outdoor seating area, located in the winderemere centre. The breakfast was nice with many options available, we also had lunch here one day which was also nice. We would return again.

Cannot recommend enoughā€¦

The staff were so nice and welcoming, the rooms were beautifully made up and the food was lovely! Location is also great. I would definitely recommend staying at the Elleray if you are down in Windermere :)

Our stay was very good,great hospitable hosts Caz and Tom are a hard working couple and that made our week really good,breakfast was fab,lovely big beer garden in back,as caz and tom were so nice we will definitely go back.
