The rooms are good overall – spacious, clean, and fresh, with a comfortable standard that meets expectations.
However, the $30 per night resort fee is absolutely not acceptable. The included $15 credit does not stack and cannot be used in the hotel kiosk. It is only valid at the café (which closes already at 2 PM) or at the hotel’s very expensive restaurant. In reality, the resort fee simply makes the room $30 more expensive per night, with little to no real value in return.
We had prepaid breakfast included in our booking, but since the hotel normally does not offer breakfast, we had to argue with staff at the breakfast restaurant to actually receive it. Eventually, this resulted in a good à la carte breakfast at The Dan restaurant, but it should not require a discussion to get something that was already paid for.
Valet parking costs $45 plus tax, which is extremely expensive. Parking at this price level should be included in the resort fee. Instead, we parked about 300 meters away at the Poe Garage for $18 per night, which is a much more reasonable option.
That said, the style of the hotel is cozy and charming, and I genuinely appreciated all the historical information about Tampa and the building itself – that part adds real character and is well done.
Overall: nice rooms and a charming atmosphere, but the resort fee, parking costs, and breakfast handling seriously detract from the experience.
