The phrase, 'You get what you pay for' could be used to describe this hotel, but that wouldn't be fair on other budget options.
It's a real shame that this hotel is in the state that it is as the building itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, years of neglect and no upkeep has left this hotel smelly, tired and dirty.
The smell when you walk in is the thing that is first noticed. That smell is present throughout the hallways, stairwells and everywhere. It wasn't in my room, but that's because there was another unpleasant smell instead.
With a smell that's off putting it really leaves you questioning whether things are clean and as you start to look and observe, it's quite clear that it's not. There were stains, everywhere. Walls, floors, sockets, the bath, even the bedding which had looked clean on initial inspection.
I hate to leave such a bad review, but I paid for my nights stay and instead chose to leave 2 hours after check in and stayed in my car instead. I spent a grand total of 20 minutes in my room, with the window open to air the smell before going out to hope for some miracle that it would be better on my return. Obviously it wasn't and I left.
This hotel needs a whole revamp to be made clean and inviting again.
