In the morning, I woke up with the drilling noise in the hotel. I noticed that the power was cut off due to the work done. Not possible to phone the reception using the phone in the room.
Later, I needed to check out, there was no light in the corridors, elevator did not work, the there was no light in the stairs, it was pitch dark, as well.
The only light available was in the fire exit stairs.
I walked out from the fire exit. However, the stairs were wet due to a leakage on the roof, I guess. The width of the steps were narrower than the usual. I can’t imagine what would happen if there was a real emergency and the hotel had to be evacuated.
In the last few steps, I did not notice the wet stairs, and slipped on those narrow stairs, and fell a few steps and strained my leg muscle.
I went to the reception, asked if they knew about the work to be done today ahead of time. The response was yes.
Then asked why they haven’t notified the people about the power cut by preparing leaflets describing the lights would be off in the stairs, elevators and phones would not work, and what to do when checking out, and on an emergency.
The answer from the reception was that we could call the hotel reception in the hotel we were in by using our mobile phones, and asked for help to carry the cases downstairs.
I asked why they haven’t placed some chargeable lanterns to the stairs. Answer was none of your business.
