The hotel is well located next to St George’s Square with its gorgeous basilica, within easy walking distance to the citadel and to the bus station for travelling elsewhere on the island. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, particularly for al fresco aperitivi and dining on balmy evenings. The buffet breakfast has enough choice - both continental and fry-up - to fill up for the day ahead.
One bit of advice, especially if staying in a room with balcony at the front of the hotel, is to take earplugs with you. The church clock chimes loudly on the hour all through the night. Plus the church bells are rung early in the morning. Added to which it can get a bit raucous with tourists staying up late on the square and on the nearby Independence Square, with loud music pumping out of one bar in particular.
But that’s central city living for you. At least you’re in the thick of the action if that’s your thing!
