We loved the location on a quieter street, a short walk from the bus station, but still in the middle of Old Town and a very short and highly enjoyable walk from its very center. The design was glorious and you can tell it's a fairly recent renovation, in that everything still feels like new.
The breakfasts were bountiful - in fact, we said each morning that it was too much and half of that would have been enough!! We loved the yogurt with raisins, nuts and oats. Each morning, a different homemade treat was served - one morning it was homemade jam, the other homemade cheese pastries. All the other baked goods - pita with roasted veggies, spanakopita - were delicious, and eggs were also offered, but we had a hard time finishing everything that was on our table as it was, so never had the eggs.
The room also had a fully equipped kitchen, in case anyone wanted to actually cook dinners (we didn't, as we love enjoying the local cuisine). We also didn't take advantage of the gorgeous terrace and sun beds, as we were there in mid-October during a particularly cold, due to a storm, stretch - but those would be delightful in warmer months! One thing to note is that our glorious room was up one flight of fairly steep stairs. My Mom is 78-y-o and she managed, but I could tell it was a bit of an effort for her after a whole day of walking around.
We already told our family about Fonte d'Oro as a perfect location for their stays and we are already plotting when to come back!
